Welcome! New Students | School of Marxism Holds Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2025

On the afternoon of September 17, the School of Marxism held the Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2025 in Lecture Hall 22. The ceremony was attended by Dean Wang Kun, Party Secretary Xu Ying, Vice Dean Lin Zisai, Party Committee Member Zheng Haixiang, Head of the Political Education Department Zhang Xiaochen, Deputy Directors Jin Baiyan and Huang Jinqiu, Secretary of the Youth League Committee and Director of the Student Affairs Office Chen Chaochao, Student Affairs Office Counselors Shen Chuanhua, Zhu Liu, Yang Hao, undergraduate class advisers, postgraduate supervisors, peer psychological mentors, student assistants, and all newly enrolled students.

      The ceremony began with all faculty and students standing to sing the national anthem. The host, Ji Xinge, a 2024 master’s student in Marxist Theory, extended a warm welcome to the Class of 2025 and briefly introduced the profile of the incoming students.

I. Speech by the Dean

Dean Wang Kun delivered a welcoming address, introducing the development of the School’s Ideological and Political Education program, the disciplines of Marxist Theory and Philosophy, as well as the faculty team. He encouraged students to strengthen their ideals and convictions, to truly learn, understand, believe in, and apply Marxism, and to integrate personal aspirations into the cause of the Party and the nation. He also urged students to refine their abilities, enhance their analytical and problem-solving skills, and bravely shoulder the mission of youth by contributing wisdom and strength to advancing Chinese modernization.

II. Remarks from the Faculty Representative

Speaking on behalf of the faculty, Professor Xiao Xiang encouraged students to treat others with sincerity, embrace diversity, and value the teachers and friends they encounter in university life. He reminded the new students to cherish their youth, commit to learning, stay diligent in action, cultivate harmonious relations, and strive toward personal integrity—pursuing their dreams while becoming better versions of themselves.

III. Speeches from Student Representatives

Undergraduate representative Chu Wanqing and postgraduate representative Chen Genfeng delivered speeches in turn. Chu expressed her wish to help spread the Party’s theories through lecture teams and social practice. Chen, drawing on her interdisciplinary background and teaching experience, pledged to delve deeply into the classics, stay rooted in reality, and serve the people. Both expressed pride in becoming members of the School of Marxism at Zhejiang Normal University, aspiring to solidify theoretical foundations, develop strong capabilities, and grow into young people of faith, knowledge, and responsibility in the new era.

IV. Appointment Ceremony

The School leadership issued appointment letters to the Class of 2025 undergraduate class advisers, peer psychological mentors, and student assistants.

Vice Dean Lin Zisai presented awards to eight new postgraduate students who received the “Academic Voyage Award.”

V. Wearing the School Badge

In the final part of the ceremony, all new students put on the School badge to the sound of solemn music. The badge is not only a symbol of identity, but also a mark of mission and responsibility. From this moment on, the Class of 2025 officially joins the family of the School of Marxism, embarking on a new journey of “learning in Marxism, speaking for Marxism, and believing in Marxism.”


Time rewards those who strive, and youth should not be wasted. With this, the 2025 Opening Ceremony of the School of Marxism came to a successful close. May all new students live up to the times and to their youth—let dreams be the sail, let hard work be the oar, and may they write a brilliant chapter of their own through dedication and perseverance.
